Nigel Lythgoe
Nigel Lythgoe, creator of hit TV shows "American Idol", "Pop Idol" and "Gladiators," chose CAI Vision to supply and install a multi room Integrated Reception System providing analogue tv, digital tv, Sky tv, digital radio and cctv to all rooms.
After CAI Vision had completed the work Nigel Lythgoe wrote:
“Dear Mario
I felt that I had to write to thank you for an excellent job of work at my home. The picture quality on my television is probably the best we have ever received on all the analogue terrestrial channels. Plus, the additional benefit of digital satellite pictures in all our rooms has saved a lot of household arguments.
What I am most happy with is the workmanship in installing our security cameras. The lengths that your team went to in order to conceal cabling was tremendous. they are hidden down drainpipes, underground and in guttering. The best compliment I can pay you is to say my wife had no complaints.
Many, many thanks to you and your team.
Well done,
Best wishes”

L.W.T
As you may be aware, Nigel then went to Los Angeles to produce the even more successful 'American Idol'.
Nigel must have really missed UK television as he recently telephoned our MD to request a 'Slingbox' to be installed to his existing home television distribution system in London, enabling him to watch UK television programmes from anywhere in the world over the internet, not just Los Angeles.
This was duly done, and it would be nice to think he needs it to keep up with all the latest english tv!
Nigel can also view whats going on at his home via his CCTV system over the internet.

Each TV can be tuned into whatever channel the viewer would care to choose independantly, including Sky, Digital, and most other satellite broadcasts available today.

WI-FI NETWORKED
The whole apartment is fully networked, which means you can even work with the 2.5m cinema screen as the desktop screen.
XTREAM FUN
The latest X-Box 360 can be played on the cinema screen if so desired. Scary for a game of 'Doom' - but the football games are out of this world!
SECURITY and DOOR ENTRY
CCTV has been specified, and recording is via a Digital Video Recorder that can be accessed remotely from anywhere in the world. The very smart looking colour Video door entry system also controls the door locks for extra security. As you would expect, a highly sophisticated security system has been specified, the details of which it would not be prudent to go into here!
ONE CONTROLLER!
Our client wanted to be able to control everything from as few remotes as possible, and amazingly, all this only needs only ONE controller to operate everything. The Nevo is a Wi-Fi enabled multi-functional controller that really does simplify the operational aspect of what could be a complicated custom installation. Use the control link above to see this amazing piece of technology.
RACK MOUNT
All of the hardware is neatly contained in a special rack mounting system hidden out of sight in the office, and the cabling infrastructure has been built in to the very walls of the property, or hidden in overhead lighting shelves, and under the floor, resulting in no unsightly trunking or conduit.

GATE AUTOMATION
The Automated gates supplied by cai vision ci provide powerful long term performance and reliability with the highest levels of safety and security. A gate entry audio/video system completes this first line of security.
Seb Fontaine - Radio 1 DJ
People in the public eye often require added security to protect their privacy. A few years ago, professional DJ Seb Fontaine chose CAI Vision to supply and install automated gates and door entry to secure the family home.
When Seb recently moved house, the Radio 1 DJ naturally chose CAI Vision again, On this occasion, CAI Vision supplied a more comprehensive and complete Security, Communications and Electrical solution.
As well as maintaining a more secure home for the Fontaine family, the security system provides an added benefit in that it helps to keep their children and very large dog safe within the confines of the house and grounds.
The complete security, communications and electrical solution supplied, included the following measures:
The Fontaine’s are very happy with their new high-tech systems supplied and installed by CAI Vision. No doubt if they ever move again, CAI will be their first port of call to design any security, communications and electrical systems requirements.
International Embassy, London
Due to the increased risk from terrorism our client felt it was necessary to increase security at the ambassador’s residence. CAI Vision was chosen to design and install a system to assist the on-site 24-hour manned security.
It is essential that the security guards can monitor the complete perimeter of the building from the security office. CAI installed a number of different cameras to achieve this. Static Day / Night cameras were used to give high quality colour images during the day, switching over to high quality monochrome images at night when light levels are lower. Pan tilt and zoom (PTZ) Day / Night cameras were used to give the security operator the ability to move a camera and zoom in on any suspicious vehicles or people as desired.
Redwall movement detectors have been integrated with the PTZ cameras so if there is any movement in an area, the relevant camera will automatically zoom in to that particular location. All cameras are recorded 24 hours a day onto a digital recorder, which can store in excess of five weeks of footage.
Another important issue was to control the movement of staff and visitors in certain parts of the premises. A PC based Access Control System allows the Embassy to issue staff and visitors with proximity cards to control area access at specified times. The proximity cards also act as photo ID cards. The system is able to provide a print out of who has been where and at what time; this information can then be verified using CCTV recordings.
We installed a comprehensive panic alarm system, which included hand held radio devices so the client could raise an alert during an emergency.
There was also a concern about fire so we installed an automatic fire protection system. This incorporated smoke detectors, heat detectors, call points and sounders.
An X-ray machine to check all post and parcels coming into the building was installed, together with walkthrough and hand held metal detectors to check all visitors before allowing access.
This was a challenging system to install largely due to the superior level of decoration at the premises. We went to great lengths to hide cables and make the system as discreet as possible, even digging trenches in the rear garden to hide cables and other equipment. The client was extremely impressed with the design and installation of the system and greatly appreciated the care and effort taken, considering the difficulties of working within the confines of such opulent decor.
The client has since recommended us to others.
Natural History Museum
DE BEERS DIAMOND COLLECTION
When the Natural History Museum opened its “Earth Galleries” Exhibition in 1998, they chose CAI Vision to supply, install and maintain a 'high tech' Electronic Security System, including various alarms and close-circuit television for the world famous De Beers Diamond Collection.
The collection of jewels includes a 17-carat diamond the size of a peach stone, worth over £1.5 million, an emerald the size of a lemon the colour of lime juice and rubies and sapphires ranging up to the size of grapes. The total collection is said to be worth many millions of pounds.
Extract taken from Evening Standard Article:
"The Natural History Museum has had to invest in no fewer than seven layers of security, in addition to the normal alarms and patrols. The room through which the public will wander is equipped so that all those entering are automatically recorded on camera, while the gems are protected with beam, pressure and sonic glass-breaking alarms, together with other devices the museum won't divulge."
Orion Hotel
The client required a multi-room Television Distribution system capable of providing a number of international channels to over 180 outlet positions with the use of a standard television set in each room.
To accommodate this requirement, CAI Vision installed a high gain directional TV/Radio aerial array, 4 satellite dishes ranging from 85cm to 1.8m in diameter and a 21 channel professional 19” rack mounted head end to process the required channels as listed below:
• 5 x National terrestrial TV stations
• 3 x French satellite stations
• 3 x German satellite stations
• 2 x Italian satellite stations
• 2 x English satellite stations
• 1 x Russian satellite station
• 1 x Spanish satellite station
• 3 x Radio stations
• 1 x VCR playback station
A variety of problems needed to be overcome such as:
• How to fix a dish of 1.8m in diameter securely to withstand winds of upto 100mph
• How to prevent interference from the microwave signals beamed across the city from the BT tower to the main BT satellite uplink station at Woolwich
• How to minimise the multipath images from surrounding tower blocks and co channel interference from other TV transmitters
With careful consideration to the choice of equipment of the highest standards and consultation with the building surveyor all the listed problems were resolved resulting in a successful installation and a satisfied client. |
